4Warn Weather – We are tracking a few showers on Exact Track 4D Radar this Sunday morning around Metro Detroit on the lighter side after some heavier showers last night. And we will be tracking more scattered showers throughout the day today making it an umbrella day no matter where you reside.
You will need it at some point if you are going to be out and about Sunday. Morning temperatures are in the upper 60s to lower 70s and we may not make it out of the 70s all day due to the clouds and showers moving across Michigan.
Sunrise is at 6:01 a.m.
The threat for severe storms is well to the south of us today into Kentucky, the Virginias, Tennessee, and Southern Ohio. The skies are slightly more stable over Metro Detroit as a large storm system finally moves east out of the Plains and through the Midwest today.
It’s mostly rain showers with isolated thunderstorms capable of dangerous lightning and downpours. Be careful driving by keeping an eye on the 4 Warn Weather App and radar, but your outdoor plans are not looking great today.
Plan on delays at the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club with hopes that the PGA players can get breaks from the rain, especially later in the afternoon. High temperatures will hit the upper 70s and the winds are shifting 5-10mph SW to NW throughout the day.
Sunset is at 9:13 p.m.
Monday
More scattered showers are likely later Sunday night into Monday morning before we dry things out later tomorrow. The warm air is still in place and it will be hot heading into the big holiday.
Skies will go from partly sunny to partly cloudy Monday as highs head back into the lower 80s or warmer depending on the amount of sun that breaks through. The humidity is also going to be on the moderate to high side for the next few days.
The good news is that the steering winds should start moving Canadian wildfire smoke to the east instead of toward Pure Michigan. That means that our air quality will start to improve this week while we continue to keep an eye on our friends and family with any trouble breathing here lately.
Temperatures near 90 degrees on 4th of July
Tuesday is the 4th of July and it will be a scorching beauty of a holiday. Morning temps in the 60s to near 70F under mostly sunny skies. Look for high temperatures to flirt with 90F on Tuesday feeling even warmer with a bit of humidity which means we all need to stay hydrated while protecting our skin in the great outdoors.
Rest of week
Wednesday will be another warm one in the upper 80s to near 90F depending on how long we can hang on to the sunshine. Increasing clouds late Wednesday is a sign of showers on the way.
Scattered rain and thundershowers will be moving into Metro Detroit either during the late morning or in the afternoon Thursday with a cold front that will bring some relief from the heat as we head into next weekend. We still should see highs hit 80F or slightly warmer Thursday with that cold front bringing shower chances.
It starts to feel cooler on Friday with decreasing clouds and less humidity in the air. Look for 70s to near 80F on Friday and Saturday in some nice Summer sunshine.
