4Warn Weather – The severe thunderstorm warning issued for Wayne County until 4:15 p.m. on Sunday has expired early.

The National Weather Service said at 3:16 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, a severe thunderstorm was located near Taylor moving north at 15 mph. The radar indicated the storm was capable of quarter-sized hail. Damage to vehicles was expected.

The thunderstorm was expected to be near Taylor and Romulus around 3:40 p.m., Greenfield Village around 3:50 p.m., Dearborn around 3:55 p.m., and Livonia around 4:15 p.m.

Other locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm included Inkster, Brownstown Township, Melvindale, Gibraltar, Garden City, Riverview, Rockwood, Wayne, Westland, and Ecorse.

The National Weather Service was urging residents to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

The max hail size for this storm was expected to be 1 inch and wind gusts of less than 50 mph were possible.
