Rain returns to Metro Detroit: What to expect this week, weekend

Showers start Wednesday, are possible through weekend

4Warn Weather – Our Wednesday begins with temperatures in the 60s! Clouds and scattered showers will keep us from being as warm as we were on Tuesday, but those 70s will make a comeback soon.

Grab the umbrella as you head out today, since rain chances will increase throughout the day.

Scattered showers will develop this afternoon and evening, with highs on either side of 70 degrees. Showers should mostly diminish by the mid-to-late afternoon.

Tonight’s sunset is at 6:37 p.m.

We have a chance for a passing shower tonight. Lows will stay close to 60 degrees.

This stretch of milder late-October conditions will persist through the rest of the work week.

Surge of warmth, more rain

As we dry out hon Thursday, another surge of warmth will return to round out the work week.

Thursday will be cloudy with an early chance of rain to the north. Friday will also see spotty rain chances, especially in the morning.

Highs will be in the 70s both days. We will likely be a few degrees shy of the record high on Friday, but we’ll get close. The current record stands at 78 degrees and was set back in 1927.

Much cooler weekend ahead

Much cooler air will return this weekend.

Temperatures will fall back into the 50s. We’ll have a better chance of widespread rain on Sunday.

Next week, temperatures will remain below average. As of right now, Halloween looks to be dry for trick-or-treating, but chilly. A wintry mix could roll in Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, an early-season snow storm began Tuesday afternoon across portions of the Pacific Northwest, northern Rockies, and northern High Plains, and will continue to bring heavy snowfall over the next few days.
