4Warn Weather – Grab an umbrella before you head out today! And pardon me if you have heard this before, but hold onto your hat. Scattered showers will move in late this morning, and winds will gust upward of 20 mph today.
By 10 a.m. Wednesday, scattered showers will be moving across the area. Showers will continue through the lunch hour, and a wintry mix is possible for those in the Thumb, where it is cooler.
Spotty showers will persist throughout Wednesday afternoon, though not everyone will see rain.
Tonight’s sunset is at 5:19 p.m.
By 6 p.m., rain should become more steady for our more southern counties. By 8 p.m.-9 p.m., larger pockets of rain are expected over northern Oakland and Macomb counties especially.
For those who see heavier rain between 7 p.m. and midnight, it’s possible a rumble of thunder may get mixed in there.
We won’t reach our high temperature today until just before midnight.
We’ll spend the daylight hours in the 40s, but our temperatures will continue rising well after sunset. We’ll reach the low and mid-50s around 11 p.m. I think some of our southern communities could even reach 60 degrees late tonight.
Cold weekend ahead
Temperatures will fall back into the 40s Thursday morning before rising in the seasonal 50s again in the afternoon. Expect a mix of sun and clouds.
We’ll stay partly cloudy and in the low 50s on Friday.
We’ll dip into the 40s this weekend, and wake up around freezing both Saturday and Sunday. However, a warmup will ensue next week as temperatures rise into the mid- and upper 50s.
Elsewhere ...
Nationally, near-record to record breaking warm temperatures are expected from the southern Plains to the Appalachians. Gusty Santa Ana winds and low humidity will bring critical fire conditions to portions of southern California. Meanwhile, winter weather advisories have been issued for northern New York and Vermont Wednesday evening into Thursday.
