Northern system affects Metro Detroit weather Thursday: What to know

Rain stays away, but winds are gusty

4Warn Weather – Great Thursday!

  • A small craft advisory is in effect for the nearshore waters of Lake Huron in Southeast Michigan until Friday, Nov. 10.
  • A gale warning will be in effect for Outer Saginaw Bay from noon Thursday until midnight.

Our day begins cloudy with a few neighborhoods seeing patchy fog and mist. Temperatures start in the upper 30s to the upper 40s.

Clouds will decrease and give way to sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures will reach the lower 50s.

The normal high and low temperatures for this date, Nov. 9, are 52 degrees and 36 degrees, respectively.

A system moving through the upper Great Lakes is bringing wet weather to our neighbors in the Upper Peninsula, but we won’t see any rain. Instead, we’ll see gusty winds due to the system. Westerly winds will move 10-15 mph with the highest gusts near 30 mph.

Tonight’s sunset is at 5:18 p.m.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a light breeze. Winds will be out of the west-southwest, moving at 5-10 mph. Lows will be in the mid-30s.

Sunny Friday

We will have another dose of sunshine as most of the region will see partly cloudy skies.

Highs will be around 50 degrees. Nighttime lows into Saturday morning will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Veterans Day weekend forecast

Veterans Day, which falls on Saturday, will be mostly cloudy and cooler. Expect highs to only reach the mid-40s. Lows will be around 30 degrees.

Sunday will bring comparable weather. It will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-40s.
