Record high temps, rain showers, gusty winds expected in Metro Detroit

Seasonable temperatures move in on Sunday

Strong wind gusts are anticipated for most of Saturday with record temperatures... (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – We are going to keep the mild temperatures in the forecast to start the weekend.

For Saturday, we’re going to have a strong low-pressure system work through the region with a cold front as we work through the day, that will bring scattered rain showers into the forecast for everybody, along with gusty winds for a good portion of the day as well.

A wind advisory is in effect for Genesee County until 6 p.m. Saturday, as winds in our northern communities gust as high as 40 to 45 miles an hour. For the rest of Southeast Michigan, wind gusts of 30 to 35 miles an hour will be common, and that will usher in the warmer air as well.

We are also looking at record high temperatures into the beginning of the weekend as well. The record high for Saturday is 58 degrees set back in 1946. The official forecast for Saturday is 59°, so we would break the record by one degree.

Sunday

Once the cold moves through this evening, we will keep the cloud cover in the forecast tonight and bring in colder air for the end of the weekend on Sunday. Mostly cloudy skies to end the weekend, with an isolated rain or snow shower possible. High temperature is much closer to average, into the lower 40s by Sunday afternoon.

Next week

Much more tranquil weather moves in for the majority of next week, with a much drier forecast ahead. Colder air continues to work into the region for Monday, so we will keep some cloud cover in the forecast, and an isolated flurry up in the thumb. High temperatures into the upper 30s by Monday afternoon.

Sunshine and clouds stick around for Tuesday as another disturbance rules through the region, so it will be breezy as we work throughout our Tuesday. High temperatures into the low 40s by Tuesday afternoon.

High-pressure controls the forecast, which means plenty of sunshine for Wednesday and Thursday, but another warming trend heads our way. Temperature is dropping back into the 30s on Wednesday, then warming into the mid to upper 40s on Thursday. And we keep those 40s around for the end of the week on Friday, with a mixture of sunshine and clouds.
