Metro Detroit gets clouds, colder temperatures to end the weekend

Next week brings sunshine, near average temperatures

Colder temperatures with clouds to end the weekend for Metro Detroit (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – After unseasonably warm temperatures on Saturday, Metro Detroit is going to return to much more December-like weather to end the weekend.

Metro Detroit set a record high of 63 degrees, shattering the 1946 record of 58 degrees. Some of us even saw a thunderstorm of two on Saturday.

Looking ahead to Sunday, an upper-level disturbance will be moving through the region behind the cold front yesterday. This will bring a northwest flow into the region in the upper levels of the atmosphere. It will keep our temperatures much colder than yesterday, and with a little bit of moisture, and bring a chance of a stray shower or snow flurry.

The clouds will also be sticking around for the day as well. Temperatures running about 20 degrees colder than Saturday, only heading for the lower 40s by Sunday afternoon.

We will keep the clouds in the forecast for the overnight hours Sunday into Monday morning. Overnight lows dropping into the upper 20s by Monday morning.

Next week

Much more tranquil weather moves in for the majority of next week, with a much drier forecast ahead. Colder air continues to work into the region for Monday, so we will keep some cloud cover in the forecast, and an isolated flurry up in the thumb. High temperatures into the upper 30s by Monday afternoon.

Sunshine and clouds stick around for Tuesday as another disturbance rules through the region, so it will be breezy as we work throughout our Tuesday. High temperatures into the low 40s by Tuesday afternoon.

High-pressure controls the forecast, which means plenty of sunshine for Wednesday and Thursday, but another warming trend heads our way. Temperature is dropping back into the 30s on Wednesday, then warming into the mid to upper 40s on Thursday. And we keep those 40s around for the end of the week on Friday, with a mixture of sunshine and clouds.

The dry weather looks to stick around up until the start of next weekend, but even then, the chances of rain are not that high. We will increase the cloud cover throughout the day on Friday and keep it into the first half of next weekend on Saturday, with a chance of a few rain showers. High temperatures near average into the lower 40s by Saturday afternoon.
