Rain showers return this weekend with mild temps -- Here’s what to expect

Above average temperatures stick around before colder weather, snow return

A wet part of the weekend is on tap for Metro Detroit with rain showers returning (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – After a nice end to the week with plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures, we do have some changes coming.

The clouds will increase and stick around as we work through the entire day on Saturday, but we will remain dry. So, if you have any outdoor plans scheduled for the weekend, Saturday will be the day to do it. High temperatures remaining above average, heading into the upper 40s by late afternoon.

Rain moves back into the forecast after midnight and sticks around for part of the day on Sunday. This is thanks to an upper-level disturbance that will work through the region. Overnight lows remaining mild, dropping into the upper 30s and lower 40s.

The rain showers will stick around into late Sunday before colder air moves into the region to start next week, takes the rain, and changes it over to a rain/snow wintry mix. No snow accumulation is expected unless you are going up into the Thumb, where a light snow accumulation is possible. Expect the winds to become breezier from late in the weekend and into early next week. High temperatures in the 40s on Sunday give way to the upper 30s by the start of next week.

Nationally, this upper-level disturbance that will bring us the rain for the end of the weekend will combine with an area of low pressure that will impact Florida through the weekend, then ride up the Eastern Seaboard and become a strong Nor’easter. Flood Watches are already in place for the weekend from Florida up into the Northeastern United States, with most of the State of Florida under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather on Saturday where all modes of severe weather including tornadoes are possible due to this developing and strengthening low pressure system. This system will move up the East Coast for the weekend bringing the chances of severe weather into the Carolinas for Sunday along with the rainfall and gusty winds.

  • Saturday: Mostly cloudy skies, continued mild temperatures. High: 48. Winds: Southeast 5-10 MPH.

  • Sunday: Cloudy skies, a chance of rain showers. High: 47. Winds: South 5-10 MPH.
  • Sunday night: Cloudy skies, a chance of rain showers. Low: 35. Winds: Southwest 5-15 MPH with gusts as high as 20 MPH.
  • Monday: Mostly cloudy skies, a chance of rain and snow showers. High: 39. Winds: Northwest 5-15 MPH with gusts as high as 20 MPH.
