4Warn Weather – We’ll have quieter weather on this Monday before a winter storm moves into our region for the next few days.
Expect mostly cloudy skies Monday with his in the upper 30s.
Tonight’s sunset is at 5:17 p.m.
The approaching winter storm will develop after midnight and into Tuesday morning.
Storm begins early Tuesday
With the approaching storm, we’re anticipating accumulating snow, rain and gusty winds. In response, our team has declared a 4Warn Weather Alert Day for Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The storm will likely disrupt your plans in some way, especially on Tuesday.
Here’s what to expect over the next few days:
- Snow will continue falling through late morning/lunchtime on Tuesday.
- A slushy 1-3 inches of snow will be possible for most everyone through lunchtime. Higher amounts will be possible north of Metro Detroit where the cold air hangs on longer.
- Snow will change over to rain during the early afternoon on Tuesday.
- Rain will stick around through late Tuesday night, into the early portions of the overnight, and early Wednesday morning.
- Rain will change back to snow showers on Wednesday morning.
- Snow showers stick will dissipate by Wednesday afternoon/evening.
It’s also going to be rather breezy throughout this storm. Winds will gust up to at least 35 mph.
We’ll keep an eye on this, as wind advisories may be issued alongside this storm.
48-hours at a glance
- Monday: Mostly cloudy skies. High: 37. Winds: Southwest 3-6 mph.
- Monday night: Cloudy skies, snow developing after midnight. Low: 33. Winds: Southeast 5-15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.
- Tuesday: Cloudy skies. Snow expected, changing to rain showers for most in the afternoon and evening. A few inches of heavy, wet snow are possible. Breezy winds anticipated. High: 42. Winds: Southeast 15-25 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph.

More snow chances to end the week
Once this system moves off to the northeast on Wednesday, we’ll remain cloudy Wednesday night. Overnight lows will drop back below freezing, and into the upper 20s by Thursday morning.
After the first winter storm this week, we’ll have a few more chances for winter weather in the days to follow. Here’s what to expect:
- Snow Chance No. 2 - Thursday: Another low-pressure center works through the region, bringing a chance of snow to the area.
- Snow Chance No. 3 - Friday afternoon-Saturday: This system looks to be a carbon copy of the system we will see Tuesday and Wednesday, meaning rain, snow and gusty winds. Although, some colder air will be in place for this storm compared to the warmer air in the first storm, which means we might see less rain at the end of the week.
- Snow Chance No. 4 - Sunday: A northwest flow will kick in behind the Friday/Saturday system, and we’ll have a chance of snow showers, colder temperatures and gusty winds on Sunday.
