4Warn Weather – After most places, saw a slushy, wet snow accumulation late last night, and a few rain showers, colder air works into the region, and the winter weather sticks around, looking ahead into the upcoming weekend.
As we work throughout our Saturday, we will keep snow showers into the forecast throughout a good portion of the day. This is as the wind turns to the west and brings water off of Lake Michigan turning that into Lake effect snow showers. We are expecting another light accumulation as we head throughout the day today, and the snow showers in combination with gusty winds could create near whiteout conditions if you do get under one of the snow showers throughout the day today.
Winds will be gusting as high as 45 to 50 miles an hour as we work throughout the day, that in combination with falling temperatures, will send wind chills into the single digits below zero by the time we get to leave this afternoon and into the evening. We’ve hit our high temperature into the 30s early this morning, temperatures continuing to fall into the 20s throughout most of the day.
We will keep a chance of snow showers into the forecast through the overnight hours tonight. Overnight lows dropping into the lower teens, but once you factor in the breezy winds sticking around, wind chills will drop well below zero overnight tonight. Wind Chill Advisories may be needed for portions of the region where we will see the lowest wind chill values into early on Sunday morning.
Looking heading to the end of the weekend on Sunday, we will keep a chance of snow showers into the forecast throughout a good portion of the day as well. The breezy winds will also be sticking around with winds gusting as high as 35 to 40 mph. High temperatures much colder than we’ve seen in a long time, only heading for the middle teens by Sunday afternoon.
We will keep the arctic air into the forecast for the majority of next week, the coldest air will stick around for the first part of next week. High temperatures Monday through Wednesday will be into the teens, with overnight low Sunday night through Tuesday night, dropping into the single digits to near or slightly below zero outside the Metro. Once you factor in the wind, wind chill values will remain below zero for an extended period of time looking ahead into early next week.
We will keep a chance of some snow showers into the forecast for Monday and Tuesday before another clipper system heads our way for the middle of the week. Expect snow to develop Wednesday night and last through the overnight into the first part of our Thursday. There is the potential for some accumulation with this system. High temperatures heading out of the teens, and into the 20s by the time we get to Thursday afternoon.
Chances for snow showers continue into the forecast looking ahead into the end of next week. High temperature is heading for the upper teens to ride around 20° by Friday afternoon, with overnight lows remaining in the teens.
