Metro Detroit to see few snow showers & another bitterly cold day for Saturday

A warming trend moves into the region looking ahead to next week with a wintry mix possible

4Warn WeatherSATURDAY: Partly cloudy skies, a few snow showers are possible. High: 19. Winds: Northwest 5-15 MPH with gusts as high as 20 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies. Another cold night, wind chills into the single digits to near zero. Low: 9. Winds:

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy skies, remaining dry. High: 23. Winds: West 5-10 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds, skies becoming mostly cloudy. Low: 14. Winds: Southwest 5-15 MPH.

After some sunshine to end the day on Friday, we’re going to keep some sunshine into the forecast to start the weekend, but also keep a few snow showers around as well. The snow showers will be widely scattered, and some places may not see them, but with a northwesterly flow sticking around, I’m going to keep a few light snow showers into the forecast today. High temperatures heading for the upper teens by late this afternoon.

Partly cloudy skies will stick around overnight tonight, one more night into the deep freeze with overnight low, dropping into the single digits for most everybody.

Working into the end of the weekend for Sunday, we will keep a mixture of sunshine and clouds into the forecast but compared to last weekend for the Lions Playoff game, we will have a much more improving forecast. High temperatures, starting to warm up a little more, most everyone into the low to mid 20s working into Sunday afternoon, wind chills will be above zero as we start off Sunday morning as well.

The active forecast returns looking ahead into the start of next week. Cloud cover will increase Sunday night into early on Monday morning, and we will have to watch temperatures very closely as we start the week, as it looks like we could see a few snow showers changing to a wintry mix on Monday. High temperatures rebounding into the lower 30s, right around the freezing mark by Monday afternoon.

We will keep the chance of a wintry mix into the forecast on Tuesday, morning low, starting off into the lower 30s, and only heading into the mid-30s by Tuesday afternoon.

The January thaw moves in for the second half of the week, but it comes with the chance of rain showers, which will help wash some of that snow away. Expect scattered rain showers on Wednesday, high temperatures, heading for the upper 30s by Wednesday afternoon and that warming trend continues into the end of the week.

We start off the day on Thursday dry, before rain showers move in Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening and stick around for the end of the week on Friday. Overnight Lowe’s Wednesday night into Thursday and Thursday night into Friday into the 30s, will send our daytime highs into the lower 40s which is above average as we go from Thursday and Friday.
