After we had some sunshine and cloud cover along with cold temperatures to start the weekend, we’re going to warm things up a little bit and keep the sunshine around looking ahead into the end of the weekend.

Sunday will be a nice day, air temperatures will be warmer as we head throughout the afternoon compared to what we had to start the weekend, but wind chills will still be on the cold side of things, into the single digits in the morning, warming into the teens by the afternoon. High temperatures heading for the low to mid 20s by Sunday afternoon.

If you’re planning on heading to the Detroit Lions game this afternoon, you will need all the winter gear. Will keep the sunshine and clouds around, with temperatures into the 20s by lunchtime through the afternoon, dropping into the teens by the end of the game with wind chills down into the single digits.

Clouds will increase overnight into the first part of Monday in advance of our next wintry system heading our way to start the week. Overnight lows dropping into the teens.

Snow showers will develop as we work through Monday afternoon into early Monday evening. Temperatures will gradually warm up throughout the entire day and into the evening hours where we will not hit our daytime high until late Monday night. With temperatures warming up, expect snow showers to transition to a wintry mix and freezing rain for areas along and south of I-69. Those areas to the north of I-69 have a better chance of staying snow through a good chunk of this event. High temperatures heading towards the freezing mark by late Monday night.

We will keep the wintry mix of freezing rain and rain into the forecast overnight Monday night and into Tuesday. There is the potential for a light ice accumulation, after a light snow accumulation with the snow showers that develop on Monday. This freezing rain could impact the commute to school and work on Tuesday morning. Overnight lows into the lower 30s Monday night into early on Tuesday morning, then temperatures heading for the mid 30s by Tuesday afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory may be needed for the region for the combination of snow/sleet and freezing rain from Monday Afternoon/Evening and into the first part of Tuesday.

Once temperatures warm above the freezing mark, we will change any freezing rain that’s left over to rain on Tuesday and keep the chance of rain showers into the forecast Tuesday night and into the middle of the week on Wednesday. High temperature is heading for the upper 30s by Wednesday afternoon.

The warming trend continues into the end of the week but also the rain shower chances continue into the end of the week as well. Will keep rain showers into the forecast for both Thursday and Friday, high temperatures heading for the lower 40s both days. But the cloud cover sticks around to start next weekend, mostly cloudy skies can be expected with high temperatures remaining above average into the lower 40s.
