4Warn Weather – The gloomy, wet weather continues in Metro Detroit.
Dense Fog Advisory
A dense fog advisory will be in effect for all of Southeast Michigan until 10 p.m. Thursday night. Visibility below less than a quarter of a mile is possible.
It will be foggy with areas of mist as widespread rain moves in from the southwest after 8 p.m. Thursday. It will reach Detroit around 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s, which will keep the precipitation as rain. Low visibility and wet roads will require reduced speeds and extra distance between vehicles.
The rain, which will be heavy at times, will overspread the area at night. The combination of moderate to heavy rain and melting snow will lead to areas of ponding on roadways and sidewalks. Areas of fog will persist. Lows will be in the mid 30s. Winds will be out of the northeast at 5 to 10 mph.
Friday
Much of the rain will be out of the area by dawn on Friday, but a few rain showers will linger through the morning. Rain totals through the morning will be up to an inch. Patchy fog will also be possible. Otherwise, it will be cloudy for the rest of the day. Highs will be around 40 degrees. Winds will be out of the north and north-northwest at 5 to 10 mph.
It will be mostly cloudy with areas of patchy fog on Friday night. Lows will be in the lower 30s, including a few locales that touch the freezing mark. A few slick spots may develop overnight, where there is standing water and cooler temperatures. Northerly winds will be around 5 mph.
This weekend will once again be active once again for sports fans. The Red Wings and Pistons will play in Downtown Detroit, and a watch party will be held on the Lions at Ford Field on Sunday. The chance of precipitation will be low, but it cannot be ruled out.
Saturday
Saturday is expected to be mostly cloudy with highs around 40 degrees. Lows will be in the lower to mid 30s.
Sunday
It will be cloudy with a slight chance of rain and snow showers on Sunday. This chance will mainly be in the morning and south of I-696. The center of the low-pressure system will move through the Tennessee Valley. The showers on the north side of the system could clip Metro Detroit or stay south of the area. Highs will be in the upper 30s to 40 degrees. Lows will fall to the lower 30s.
Next week, the final days of January, will keep the mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid 30s to around 40 degrees.
