Rain, wintry mix move into Metro Detroit as flooding continues

Flood warnings in effect for parts of Southeast Michigan

Light rain will move into Southeast Michigan late Saturday, Jan. 27. (WDIV)

Flood concerns continue in some neighborhoods this weekend.

A flood warning is in effect for St. Clair County until noon Sunday, Jan. 28. Flooding has been observed along the Black River and Pine River. Other streams and rivers remain elevated in the area.

A flood warning is in effect for the North Branch of the Clinton River in Macomb County near Mt. Clemens until Sunday evening.

[A flood warning for the Rouge River in Detroit was discontinued Saturday evening.]

Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters. The National Weather Service reminds drivers that most deaths from floods happen in vehicles.

Sunday

We will have light rain and snow showers on Sunday morning. A few isolated showers will last into the afternoon. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and damp. Rivers and streams will still be elevated in some communities. Highs will be in the upper 30s. Lows will fall to the upper 20s. Daytime winds will be out of the north and north-northeast at 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

On the other side of the country, the Lions and fans can expect afternoon temperatures to reach the lower 70s in Santa Clara, Calif. and around kickoff. Skies in the Bay Area will range from mostly cloudy to partly cloudy.

Monday

Back in Metro Detroit, it will be mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s to 40 degrees on Monday.

Tuesday

The dry weather will come to an end on Tuesday as a clipper sweeps down into Lower Michigan with the chance of morning snow and afternoon rain. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s.

The final days of January and the first days of February will see temperatures several degrees above normal. Normal highs would be 32 degrees.
