Flooding in Metro Detroit, more precipitation approaching

Flood warnings in effect in Southeast Michigan

A flood warning is in effect for the River Raisin in Monroe County, including the City of Monroe, until further notice. A flood warning is in effect for the Huron River in Livingston County, including parts of Hamburg and Green Oak townships near Brighton, until further notice. (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – A flood warning is in effect for the River Raisin in Monroe County, including the City of Monroe, until further notice. The river is expected to crest Monday morning at 9.2 feet, which is above the flood stage of 9 feet.

A flood warning is in effect for the Huron River in Livingston County, including parts of Hamburg and Green Oak townships near Brighton, until further notice.

Flooding is expected to begin this evening as the river reaches the flood stage of 7 feet. The river is forecast to crest at 7.7 feet on Wednesday morning. Multiple properties are at risk of damage.

Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.

Sunday Night

With mostly cloudy skies in the area in Southeast Michigan, a few scattered rain and snow showers are possible Sunday evening. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s. Northerly winds will be 10 to 16 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Temperatures will be in the mid 30s around midnight and fall to the lower 30s overnight. Northerly winds will be 5 to 15 mph.

Monday

It will be mostly cloudy on Monday. A stray flurry or sprinkle will be possible. Otherwise, it will be dry during the day. Highs will be in the upper 30s to 40 degrees.

Daytime winds will be northwesterly at 5 to 10 mph. Overnight into Tuesday morning, we will see the arrival of snow showers as a clipper reaches Lower Michigan. Lows will be around 30 degrees.

Tuesday

Snow showers will be likely during the Tuesday morning drive. Roads may be slippery. We will likely see a mix of rain and snow by late morning before transitioning to all rain during the afternoon.

Highs will be in the mid 30s. A wet one to two inches will be possible in the morning, especially on the grass. During the evening and night, we will have a chance of rain and snow showers. Lows will fall to the lower 30s.

Wednesday and Thursday

Temperatures will warm back into the lower 40s for Wednesday and Thursday. It will be mostly cloudy both days, but there will be a slight chance of sprinkles or flurries on Thursday.

Through Weekend

Highs will be in the lower to mid 30s for the rest of the week in Metro Detroit. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies are expected over the weekend.
