Melting coming for Metro Detroit: What to expect this week

Above-freezing temps through weekend

4Warn Weather – Early morning fog will dissipate after sunrise. Otherwise, temperatures start above average, around freezing, on this Wednesday.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy today. Highs will be around 40 degrees.

Tonight’s sunset is at 5:46 p.m.

Mild week, some drizzle possible

A passing cold front will bring a chance of patchy light drizzle on Thursday. Highs will be back into the 40s on Thursday before dipping back into the upper 30s on Friday.

Friday will be dry.

Sunshine will return on Friday, so we will have to see if the groundhog sees his shadow.

Sunshine is expected to linger into the weekend. High temperatures will rise back into the low 40s then and stay there into early next week.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, a storm system over the West Coast will bring heavy rainfall and a flooding threat from the southern Coast of Oregon to central California, heavy mountain snow over the Sierra, and gusty winds to the region. Warmer temperatures ranging between 20-40 degrees above average will expand across the Great Plains and Mississippi Valley.
