Sunshine will reappear in Metro Detroit, but the cloud cover is not ready to give up yet.
Monday Night
It will be cloudy with areas of patchy freezing fog on Monday night. The droplets from fog may lead to slick spots on sidewalks and roadways. Temperatures will cool to the mid to upper 20s with northeasterly winds around 5 mph.
Tuesday
Tuesday morning, with temperatures below freezing, there will be a chance of patchy freezing fog. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy with decreasing clouds. During the afternoon, skies will become partly cloudy. Highs will be in the lower 40 degrees. Winds will be out of the northeast and east around 5 mph. Skies will become mostly cloudy again at night. Lows will fall into the mid to upper 20s.
Wednesday
Under mostly cloudy skies, temperatures will climb into the lower to mid 40s on Wednesday. Lows will be in the lower 30s.
Thursday and Friday
Then, a warm front will sweep over Southeast Michigan on Thursday and usher in unseasonably mild air. Daytime temperatures will push into the 50s on Thursday and Friday with overnight lows in the 40s.
This warmth will challenge records for both highs and lows. (Low temperatures may break records for being the warmest nighttime temperatures for the date.) The weather system will also bring the chance of rain showers Thursday night and Friday. High temperatures will cool into the 40s for the weekend, which would remain above normal. Metro Detroit’s normal highs this week are 33 to 34 degrees and normal lows are 19 to 20 degrees.
