Warming up in Metro Detroit: What to expect this week

Above-average temps with a warmup later this week

4Warn Weather – Areas of freezing fog can’t be ruled out in our southern communities this Monday morning, which could make for slick spots on roads and overpasses. A freezing fog advisory was in effect for Monroe County until 8 a.m.

Skies will be mostly cloudy on this mild Monday, although I won’t rule out a few peeks of sunshine early this afternoon. Highs today will be in the low 40s, about 10 degrees above average.

Tonight’s sunset is at 5:52 p.m.

Staying dry until Thursday

We’ll stay dry with temperatures trending milder through Wednesday, and an even bigger warm-up by the end of the week.

We are looking at 50s on Thursday and Friday with rain chances increasing late Thursday. There is a better chance for widespread rain on Friday afternoon.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, a strong Pacific storm system will bring flooding rains, heavy snow, strong winds and high surf to California. High elevation snow may produce whiteout conditions and dangerous, near impossible travel conditions for the Sierra Nevada and Rockies. Well above average temperatures continue for the Plains and upper Midwest.
