Snow? Rain? Warmth? Here’s the 3-month weather outlook for Michigan

Weather probabilities for February, March and April 2024

We’re in the midst of one of those weird February warm spurts in Southeast Michigan, but that doesn’t mean winter is done with us.

The National Weather Service/NOAA released their look at the three-month outlook, including a look at temperature and precipitation probabilities for February, March and April, 2024.

The predictions are based on probability vs. normal averages. So let’s dive in.

Michigan temperature outlook for Feb-April 2024

  • The NOAA outlook shows an above average probability that Michigan, along with most of the Great Lakes region, will see above average temperatures.
    • Average high temp in Detroit in February: 35
    • Average high temp in Detroit in March: 45
    • Average high temp in Detroit in April: 58

Most of Michigan is under the 40-50% probability zone to see above those averages.

Michigan precipitation outlook for Feb-April 2024

  • The NOAA outlook shows a 40-50% chance that Southeast Michigan will see below average precipitation during the February-April timeframe.
  • The western half of the state and most of the Upper Peninsula are in the 33-40% probability to see below average precipitation.
    • Detroit typically sees around 3.26 inches of precipitation in April.
