4Warn Weather – Flurries are ending, and it’s a quiet evening here in Metro Detroit. If you have errands to run and don’t like getting wet, Tuesday night or Wednesday are the times to get things done, as a rain/snow mix is ahead for part of Thursday.
Before we dive into the specifics of the system coming in on Thursday, let’s talk about Tuesday night. Skies will become partly cloudy, and temps will drop down into the low to mid-20s.
Valentine’s Day
It will be a chilly start to Ash Wednesday/Valentine’s Day, but a little sunshine will warm us to slightly above average temps in the afternoon, topping out around 37 degrees. If you are taking your sweetheart out Wednesday night, it will be chilly but dry—a great night for snuggling.
Thursday
Thursday. Ugh Thursday. At this point, it looks like the rain/snow line is trending a bit further north, which would be great for areas south of I-94.
Scattered snow showers will arrive from the west just after sunrise, around 7 a.m., and continue to spread across the area. It could be pockets of heavy snow around M-59 and areas to the north with a rain/snow mix south.
This is a very quick event, lasting only about 5-6 hours. Snow will change over to rain during the late morning hours for most of SE Lower Michigan but continue as snow north of I-69. Confidence is still pretty low regarding snow totals because of the possibility of rain mixing in earlier than anticipated.
