Welcome to the first day of March and the start of Meteorological Spring!
After some sunshine to start the day, we are looking at a little more cloud cover rolling in throughout the afternoon and into the evening hours Friday night, and we will keep some of that cloud cover in overnight before some sunshine moves back in to start the weekend.
We’re watching an area of low pressure well south of the region down near the Gulf states work off to the north and east through this afternoon and at the end of Friday evening.
This system has plenty of moisture to work with, and that moisture is starting to lift into Southeastern Michigan. Some of us may see a few showers this evening, but we are not expecting widespread rain, and most of us should stay dry. Temperatures are on the mild side of things Friday night, dropping into the upper 30s and lower 40s by early Saturday morning.
Saturday
We will start off the day on Saturday with a little more cloud cover before we see filtered sunshine as we head into the afternoon. The warming trend continues from the last few days continues as we make our way into the mid-50s on Saturday.
Sunshine sticks around for the end of the weekend on Sunday, with temperatures getting even warmer yet again, going unseasonably warm by Sunday afternoon. Expect high temperatures to head into the low 60s by late Sunday afternoon, but we are nor aiming for record territory as the record high for Sunday is 67.
Next week
Our next chance of rain rolls into the region as we go into the start of next week, late Monday night and most of the day on Tuesday. That’s another cold front heading through the region, so we are expecting increasing cloud cover Monday afternoon into Monday evening.
The warming trend in the temperature department continues into the start of next week as well, with near-record-high temperatures forecast for Monday. The record high for Monday is 69 degrees, set back in 1983, and as of right now, we are forecasting to tie the record high on Monday.
Once the rain moves out of the region on Tuesday, we will see some cooler temperatures move into the region, only heading into the 50s by Tuesday afternoon.
Drier weather with some sunshine returns for Wednesday before another chance of rain returns to the forecast by Thursday.
