4Warn Weather – We’ve got an incredibly mild start to our Tuesday morning as we come off another record-setting day: Highs soared to 74 degrees on Monday at Detroit Metro Airport.
A cold front will bring showers with isolated thunderstorms across Southeast Michigan today.
The day begins warm ahead of the cold front with highs in the 50s and 60s this morning into midday. Temps will cool down this afternoon with the cold front.
We’re expecting rain showers throughout the morning and afternoon. Showers were forecast to reach our region by 7 a.m., and continue through the day.
Those showers will likely be more widespread in the morning than in the afternoon, when they may become more scattered. Some areas could see thunderstorms, though we aren’t anticipating any severe storms.
In the afternoon, those in our more southern counties may see more widespread rain, and may have a few rumbles of thunder, as well.
Tonight’s sunset is at 6:29 p.m.
Tonight will be cloudy and cooler. We’ll dry out overnight.
Even with highs in the 50s on Wednesday, we’ll still be about 10 degrees above average.
Highs will remain in the low and mid-50s through the rest of the week.
More rain chances later this week
The next chance for rain will arrive late Friday and linger into Saturday. We’ll cool off into the low 40s on Sunday.
Elsewhere ...
Nationally, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible across parts of the Southern Plains into the lower Mississippi Valley. Another Pacific storm will produce moderate to heavy precipitation in northern California and southwestern Oregon.
