Workweek to bring rain, warmer weather after cold weekend in Metro Detroit

Refreezing Saturday night as temps drop into lower 20s in Southeast Michigan

Do you plan to be out late Saturday or head out early Sunday, March 24? Be sure to dress warmly. (WDIV)

Snow is not unusual for early spring in Southeast Michigan, but it feels out of place after such a mild winter. That snow will soon be gone, but not before another cold night.

Saturday Night

Saturday night will be cold with mostly clear skies. Temperatures will fall to the lower 20s. Puddles from melted snow will refreeze, which may lead to a few slick spots on your sidewalk. Northeasterly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday

Expect another day of sunshine Sunday. It will be sunny in the morning as people head to services, but it will become partly cloudy in the afternoon. Afternoon temperatures will peak around 40 degrees. Winds will be out of the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Clouds will increase and skies will become mostly cloudy by Sunday night. Low will be in the lower 30s. Winds will be out of the east at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Monday

It will be cloudy on Monday, but it will be milder. Any mostly-melted snowmen that survive the weekend will cease to exist. Highs will range from the mid 50s to 60 degrees in Southeast Michigan. There will be a southeasterly breeze at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tuesday

Plan on rain showers and wind all day Tuesday. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 10 to 20 mph. The highest gusts will be around 30 mph. Highs will be in the mid 50s. Lows will be in the mid to upper 30s.

Wednesday

Morning rain showers will be possible Wednesday. Otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy. A cooler air mass will suppress temperatures with highs in the upper 40s to 50 degrees. Lows will be around 30 degrees.

Thursday

It will be mostly sunny with the help of a high-pressure system on Thursday. Highs will be around 50 degrees. Lows will be in the lower 30s.

Friday

Friday, it will be partly cloudy with the chance of an isolated rain shower. Highs will be in the mid 50s. Lows will be in the lower to mid 30s.

Next Saturday

Next Saturday, skies will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few sprinkles. The highs and lows will be similar to Friday’s temperatures.

What are the average temperatures in Metro Detroit?

Metro Detroit’s normal highs for the remainder of the month are 49 to 52 degrees. The normal lows through March 31 are 31 to 33 degrees.
