Here’s what to expect for Easter in Southeast Michigan

Messy weather is moving toward Southeast Michigan, and it will arrive by Tuesday morning. Monday will be milder and mostly cloudy. (WDIV)

After a day of sunshine, Metro Detroit will have a cloudy Sunday night. A stray flurry will be possible over the Thumb, but it will be a relatively quiet night for weather in Southeast Michigan.

The same cannot be said for part of the Upper Midwest, where a winter storm is brewing. As of Sunday night, winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were in effect in the U.P.

Monday

Following early morning lows in the lower 30s on Monday, it will be mostly cloudy, milder, and breezier. Temperatures will peak in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Winds will be out of the southeast at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Monday night, it will be cloudy as the weather system approaches Southeast Michigan. Rain showers will develop during the overnight hours. Lows will be in the mid 40s. Winds will be out of the southeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tuesday

Plan on a rainy and windy Tuesday. The rain will start before dawn in Southeast Michigan. A few late-day thunderstorms are also possible. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 15 to 20 mph. Gusts will be as high as 40 mph. Highs will be in the mid 50s to upper 50s. Nighttime lows will be in the mid 30s to 40 degrees.

Wednesday

A few rain showers will be possible Wednesday morning. Otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy. A cooler air mass will suppress temperatures with highs in the upper 40s to 50 degrees. Lows will be around 30 degrees.

Thursday

The sunshine will return with the help of a high-pressure system on Thursday. Highs will be around 50 degrees. Lows will be around 30 degrees.

Friday

Friday will begin sunny, but clouds will increase. Expect a partly cloudy afternoon. Highs will be in the lower to mid 50s. Lows will be in the lower to mid 30s.

Easter Weekend

The weather conditions will be similar over the weekend. A light jacket, and possibly a rain jacket, may be needed for Easter egg hunts; but rain chances are low.

It will be mostly cloudy with the chance of sprinkles on Saturday. Temperatures will reach the lower 50s with lows in the upper 30s.

It will be mostly cloudy with temperatures falling on Easter. Midday temperatures will be around 50 degrees. An isolated rain shower is possible.

Metro Detroit’s normal highs for this week are 50 to 52 degrees. The normal lows are 31 to 33 degrees.
