Rain, storm chances Tuesday

Periods of rain are likely throughout much of Tuesday, with chances for a few thunderstorms later in the day.

The first round of rain will be steadier and more widespread starting in the early morning. Wind gusts are expected to exceed 35 mph on Tuesday morning.

The second wave of rain will bring the potential for a few embedded thunderstorms. Isolated wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible during the stronger storms later in the day (between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.).

Easter weekend forecast

Plan for sunshine on Good Friday and a chance for rain Saturday.

As of right now, it looks like the Easter egg hunts should be dry on Easter Sunday, but with more clouds than sun.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, a significant winter storm will continue to bring heavy snow, strong winds and blizzard conditions to the Plains and upper Midwest through Tuesday morning. Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are forecast to develop over the mid-South and lower Mississippi Valley Monday afternoon and evening.
