Severe storms possible Tuesday as rain covers Metro Detroit

Lull in rain midday

4Warn Weather – More showers will develop this afternoon and evening, and could turn into severe storms. There is a higher threat for severe storms across central Michigan at that time.

Here’s how it’ll shake out:

  • Areas west of I-75 and US-23 are under a slight risk for afternoon storms with scattered wind gusts up to 60 mph.
  • The rest of Southeast Michigan is under a marginal risk for isolated severe wind gusts as these storms track east between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Tonight’s sunset is at 7:52 p.m.

Mild rest of the week

We’ll cool off to more seasonal highs in the upper 40s on Wednesday.

Then we’ll welcome back the low to mid-50s by the end of the week. Plan for sunshine on Good Friday.

Easter weekend forecast

We’ll have a chance for rain Saturday.

As of right now, it looks like the Easter egg hunts should be dry on Easter Sunday. The morning will start off cool in the 30s, but the afternoon on Sunday will be in the low 50s.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, snow and strong winds will continue from the central Plains to northern Minnesota on Tuesday, along with sleet and freezing rain in portions of the upper Mississippi Valley. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible across portions of the Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
