April Fools' Day starts wet stretch with snow chance in Metro Detroit: no joke

System to bring precipitation chances through Thursday morning in SE Michigan

A few showers are possible late Sunday night and early Monday morning in areas mainly south of I-94. Otherwise, rain moves into Southeast Michigan Monday afternoon. (WDIV)

After a cool, cloudy, and dry Easter in Metro Detroit, the wet weather resumes.

It will be cloudy with the chance of a few rain showers in areas south of I-94, mainly after 10 p.m. on Sunday night. Lows will be in the upper 30s. Winds will be out of the east-northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Monday

A few of the rain showers may linger into the start of the morning drive in areas south of I-94 on Monday. Otherwise, it will be cloudy until showers return for the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the upper 40s. Northeasterly winds will be 6 to 12 mph. Monday night will be rainy with lows around 40 degrees.

The slow-moving system will be responsible for precipitation through Thursday morning in Southeast Michigan. It will bring severe weather chances in areas south of Michigan, such as the Ohio Valley.

Through Next Weekend

Besides rain showers and a chance of late-day thunderstorms, Tuesday will be cooler with highs in the upper 40s. As the system drifts northward from the Ohio Valley to Michigan and Ontario, it will intensify. Wednesday will be windy with the chance of rain and snow showers. Thursday will start to dry out, but there will be the chance of rain and snow showers in the morning. It will be breezy. Friday will be dry, mostly cloudy and slightly milder, which is good news for the Tigers’ home opener. Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the 50s.

The normal highs for the first week of April are 53 to 55 degrees and the normal lows are 34 to 36 degrees.
