4Warn Weather – After a soggy start to the weekend we have dried things out late last night through the overnight into Easter morning, and will keep the dry weather into the forecast for the majority of the day on Sunday before our next round of rain moves into the region.
Our frontal boundary from yesterday moved off to the east, allowing us to dry out late on Saturday night. We will keep cloud cover into the forecast throughout the day on Easter Sunday. Temperatures running a few degrees warmer heading into the upper 40s by Sunday afternoon.
Our next round of rain moves into the region late Sunday night into early on Monday morning. This round of rain will be primarily south of Metro Detroit down in our southern counties toward the state line. That rain will move off to the east by the time we get to sunrise on Monday morning. Dry weather sticks around for the majority of the day on Monday before our next round of widespread rain moves in near the drive time home from work and school and sticks around late Monday night and into Tuesday. High temperatures close to average, into the low of mid 50s for Monday afternoon.
It looks like we may get a brief break from the rain as we’re heading out the door to school and work on early Tuesday morning, but that break is short-lived. Expect rain to move back into the region by lunchtime on Tuesday and stick around through the evening and into the overnight hours into early on Wednesday morning. There are some indications that we could see a few rounds of heavier rain late Tuesday night. High temperature is dropping back into the upper 40s by Tuesday.
We’re also keeping our eyes just to the south of Metro Detroit for a potential severe weather outbreak over the next few days from the Midwest through the Ohio valley. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a Slight (Level 2/5) Risk and/or an Enhanced (Level 3/5) Risk for severe weather from the Midwest through the Ohio valley into the mid-Atlantic region from Monday and Tuesday and into the middle of the week on Wednesday. Damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes are possible to start the week in those areas, but any severe weather threat should remain just to the south of metro Detroit as we go into the first part of next week.
Once the strong low-pressure system pulls off to the east, colder air is going to work into the region on Wednesday and that will take our rain showers over to a rain snow mix throughout the day. Expect breezy winds to move into the region as well. High temperature is heading for the lower 40s by Wednesday afternoon. But once you factor in the breezy winds it will feel like it’s in the upper 30s throughout a good portion of the day on Wednesday.
We will start drying things out looking ahead into Thursday, but we will keep the cloud breezy into the forecast. High temperatures heading for the middle 40s by Thursday afternoon.
Sunshine finally returns to the forecast by the end of the week on Friday, expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds with high temperatures heading for the lower 50s. As of right now, no problems are expected for the Detroit Tigers home opener game at Comerica Park on Friday.
That dry weather and warming trend continues into the first part of next weekend. Mostly sunny skies for Saturday, high temperature is heading into the middle 50s by Saturday afternoon.
