4Warn Weather – Keep the umbrella on hand today. We’ve got another soggy morning with rounds of rain on tap.
Rain showers will expand northward this morning while increasing in coverage and intensity.
We anticipate a break in the rain this afternoon as the moisture lifts north into the Thumb. It’ll be another lull in rain like we had Monday, but we’ll hold onto more cloud cover today.
Thunderstorm potential increases this evening -- especially for Monroe and Lenawee counties, where there is a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) of severe weather.
Wet weather will stick around throughout much of the week.
Tonight’s sunset is at 8:01 p.m.
More showers Wednesday, Thursday
Scattered to numerous showers are possible Wednesday into Thursday. We’re expecting mainly rain, but we can’t rule out some snow mixing in later on both days as temperatures fall to near freezing.
No accumulation is expected, but we can’t rule out a minor dusting on grassy surfaces, especially in our northern counties.
Maybe more rain Friday
It’s possible that we’ll see some remaining moisture on Friday, but it’ll most likely turn out to be just cloud cover.
A low pressure system will exit eastward by Friday, leading to a dry and slightly warmer weekend ahead.
Right now, the total solar eclipse forecast for next Monday has highs near 60 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Elsewhere ...
Nationally, heavy snow is over the upper Great Lakes and upper Mississippi Valley Tuesday and Wednesday. Heavy snow over upstate New York and northern New England is expected Wednesday. There is a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley on Tuesday.
