Temperatures could drop to freezing in Metro Detroit.

Cold weather prompts alert

A frost advisory has been issued for all of Southeast Michigan from midnight tonight through 8 a.m. Monday, April 22. Frost could damage sensitive plants. Consider covering plants or bringing potted plants indoors.

It will be mostly clear and cold again on Sunday night. Temperatures will fall to the lower to mid 30s in the advised area, including some locations with lows of 32 degrees or lower. Winds will be out of the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Monday

Skies will be mostly sunny Monday morning, but conditions will become partly cloudy in the afternoon. Expect highs in the lower 60s on this Earth Day. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Under mostly cloudy skies, nighttime temperatures will be mild. Lows will be in the mid to upper 40s.

Tuesday

Rain showers will move in from the west and likely arrive in time for Tuesday morning’s commute. After a midday break, more showers and a few thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of an approaching cold front in the late afternoon and evening. Highs will be around 60 degrees. Southwesterly winds will be 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Rain showers will linger into the night with lows in the mid 30s.

Wednesday

Wednesday will begin with mostly cloudy skies, but plan on ample sunshine in the afternoon. Expect highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s and lows in the lower 30s. Lows will fall down into the 20s in the Thumb.

Thursday

The NFL Draft in Downtown Detroit with cool conditions before a gradual warmup. It will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on Thursday with highs in the mid 50s. Lows will be in the mid to upper 30s.

Friday

An approaching system will bring mostly cloudy conditions for Friday. Highs will be in the lower 60s. The rain will arrive at night with lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Saturday

Warm, moist air will push into Southeast Michigan on Saturday. It will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers. Highs will be near 70 degrees and lows in the upper 50s to 60 degrees.

Sunday

Sunday looks to have similar conditions with rain showers in the area. Highs will be in the lower to mid 70s.

Normal highs for next week are in the lower 60s, and normal lows are in the lower 40s.
