4Warn Weather – Layer up! We are waking up to frost and freeze conditions once again on this Friday.
We will start the day with plenty of sunshine, and then warm up to more seasonal temperatures throughout the day.
Clouds will build in through the afternoon ahead of our next rain maker -- which doesn’t roll in until after sunset, so you don’t need an umbrella during the day today.
Highs today will be milder, in the mid-60s. This is all part of a warming trend that will continue well into the weekend.
Tonight’s sunset is at 8:28 p.m.
Showers will arrive overnight with a chance for a few embedded thunderstorms through Saturday morning.
Showers, storms possible this weekend
Breezy southwest winds will develop Saturday afternoon with gusts up to 30 mph.
Some additional thunderstorms are possible Saturday evening. An isolated severe storm is possible northwest of Metro Detroit.
Additional showers and a few storms are possible Sunday. We could be flirting with a record high on Sunday -- the current record stands at 84 degrees.
Temps will stay well above average through next week, with highs trending in the 70s. Overnight lows will be in the 60s, closer to average highs this time of year. We’ll hold on to rain chances through Tuesday.
Elsewhere ...
Nationally, we have entered an active weather pattern for much of the Plains into the mid- to upper Mississippi Valley region. Thunderstorms will bring heavy rain and possible severe storms to portions of the Plains. Cooler than average temperatures are expected from the Rockies to the West Coast, and from the mid-Atlantic to the Northeast. Above average temperatures will spread from the southern Plains to the Great Lakes into the weekend.
