From cold to hot: Warmth, shower chances continue in Metro Detroit

Temperatures to remain above average through workweek in Southeast Michigan

The warm weather will continue in Metro Detroit, but it has been a dramatic swing in temperatures.

From near-record cold to near-record warmth

The temperature dipped to 28 degrees at Detroit Metro Airport on Thursday morning, which was two degrees shy of the record low for April 25. Saturday afternoon, temperatures reached 81 degrees in the same location. That was just short of the record high of 84 degrees for April 27.

It will be mostly cloudy and breezy on Saturday night. A couple of stray showers will be possible across the area. The chance of rain will increase near Saginaw. Lows will be in the lower 60s, which is closer to normal high for late April. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Sunday

Sunday, it will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few showers and scattered thunderstorms. The showers will be most widespread in the morning as they move toward the northeast. In the afternoon, clouds will give way to sunshine in Ann Arbor and Detroit. Clouds will be thicker north of M-59, and the chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be greater north of I-69. Expect highs in the upper 70s to 80 degrees. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 18 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. The chance of showers will increase during the evening and nighttime hours. Lows will be around 60 degrees.

Workweek

The warm, wet weather will continue through the workweek. Highs will be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees on Monday, mid 70s for Tuesday and Wednesday, back into the upper 70s for Thursday, and upper 60s and lower 70s on Friday. Showers chances will last for much of the week, but Southeast Michigan will have a better chance of dry conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
