It is a tale of two halves of Metro Detroit as a frontal boundary is creating a stark difference in temperatures.
Temperatures were near 80 degrees at Detroit Metro Airport Sunday late afternoon and early evening, while temperatures were only around 50 degrees in Port Huron and Sandusky. Communities in the Thumb were about 30 degrees cooler than 24 hours prior.
Sunday Night
It will be mostly cloudy with a few spotty showers on Sunday night. A cool air mass has pushed over northern parts of Southeast Michigan as a warm air mass holds over southern areas. Overnight lows will be around 60 degrees in Detroit and Ann Arbor and around 50 degrees in the Thumb. Winds will be out of the south at 8 to 12 mph.
Monday
Take sunglasses and an umbrella on Monday. It will be partly cloudy in the morning, but skies will become mostly cloudy by noon. A few scattered showers will be possible during the early afternoon, but the chance of showers and thunderstorms will increase in the evening. Tigers fans will want to be prepared for wet weather for the 6:40 p.m. game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Highs will range from the mid 70s in Flint, Lapeer and Port Huron to near 80 degrees in Detroit and Monroe. Winds out of the south-southwest will be 8 to 16 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
Monday night, it will be mostly cloudy with most of the rain out of the region before midnight. Lows will be 55 to 60 degrees.
The system that is responsible for the current rain chances will move through the area by early Tuesday.
Drier conditions can be expected Tuesday and Wednesday, but another system will bring rain chances for the second half of the week. High temperatures will be in the 70s to 80 degrees through the workweek in Metro Detroit, and overnight lows will be in the 50s.
