Tracking Tuesday showers in Metro Detroit: What to know

More rain coming later this week

4Warn Weather – There is a chance for scattered showers across all of southeast Michigan this Tuesday morning.

Grab an umbrella as you head out today, but you may or may not need it! Showers today will be scattered.

You will need an extra layer, though. Temps begin in the upper 50s and may only get as high as the upper 60s today, depending where you live. It’s a big jump from 80s we had Monday.

Around 7 a.m., shower chances will be particularly prominent in the more northern part of our region. Those showers will likely fizzle out through the morning, and won’t really sink much lower into the rest of Metro Detroit.

At around 2 p.m., rain showers will also be possible closer to the Michigan-Ohio state line. Rain may continue in our more southern counties through the early afternoon, and could lift up to the Jackson area. An isolated weak thunderstorm is possible.

The rest of Metro Detroit should stay mostly dry today.

Tonight’s sunset is at 8:47 p.m.

Any showers lingering into the evening should fizzle out overnight.

Warming up ahead of more rain

Some computer model data hints at lingering rain early Wednesday before we begin to dry out.

High pressure will bring mainly dry weather on Wednesday and Thursday. We’ll also experience a warming trend starting Wednesday, with highs forecasted in the mid-70s through the rest of the week.

The next chance of rain showers arrives Thursday night and will continue through Friday. Rain is expected to be widespread starting late Friday morning, and they’ll last through the evening.

Showers should dissipate before the weekend begins. We could get back into the low 80s by the end of the weekend.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, severe thunderstorms and flash flooding will impact portions of the Gulf Coast and the Southeast on Tuesday. Above-average temperatures expected for south Florida and the West.
