The start of astronomical summer is still a month away, but it will feel like July over the next few days.
It will be partly cloudy and comfortable on Saturday night, but patchy fog will develop in Southeast Michigan. It could become dense in some spots. Lows will be in the upper 50s. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 4 to 8 mph.
Sunday
After the morning fog dissipates, it will be mostly sunny to partly sunny on Sunday. The air will be hot and sticky as temperatures push into the lower to mid 80s. A few showers and thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches. Some storms could produce downpours. Winds will be out of the south-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Apart from the pop-up showers and storms, expect lots of sunshine. The UV index will be in the very high range during the afternoon, which will require precautions. Some individuals may develop sunburn in as little as 15 to 25 minutes without protection. Applying sunscreen and wearing light-colored and lightweight long-sleeve shirts are ways to protect yourself.
The chance of showers and thunderstorms will last into Sunday evening. Under partly cloudy skies, lows will be in the lower 60s.
Monday
Plan for partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 80s on Monday. At night, a few showers will be possible late as lows fall to the mid 60s.
Tuesday and Wednesday
The hot weather and chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will be in the 80s. Temperatures are expected to cool into the lower to mid 70s by the end of the next week.
The normal highs in Metro Detroit are in the lower 70s, and the normal lows are in the lower 50s.
