Storm chances return Sunday and strong to severe storms possible next week

Some storms could be strong to severe early next week

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible looking ahead into early next week (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – After plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures to start the weekend, we are looking at chances of showers and thunderstorms moving into the region as we work through the end of the weekend and start of next week.

Looking heading to the end of the weekend on Sunday, we are going to have a cold front move towards the region, and with the moisture remaining, we cannot rule out the chance of a few showers and thunderstorms as we had from Sunday afternoon and into Sunday evening. High temperature is heading for the middle 80s by Sunday afternoon. A few thunderstorms could have heavy rainfall on Sunday afternoon and evening where they do develop.

As we work into the first few days of next week, we will watch a few disturbances move into the region. This will trigger chances for showers and thunderstorms both Monday and Tuesday. These storms will develop mid-late afternoon with daytime heating, then fizzle out around mid-late evening as we lose daytime heating to fuel these thunderstorms. Some of these could be strong to severe both days.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region both Monday and Tuesday under a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather. Damaging winds, large hail, heavy rainfall are possible both days, and although while the chance is low, we do have the potential for an isolated tornado on Monday.

We will remain warm and humid through the start of next week. High temperatures heading for the upper 80s both Monday and Tuesday.

Then, a cold front will sweep through the area on Wednesday. This will continue our chances for showers and thunderstorms as well, and bring more clouds into the region as we work through the day. High temperatures remaining cooler thanks to the clouds moving in, we’ll head into the lower 80s by Wednesday afternoon.

Cooler changes roll into the region for the end of the week, expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds on Thursday giving way more sunshine than anything by Friday. High temperatures dropping into the middle 70s on Thursday, warm into the mid to upper 70s on Friday.

The dry weather sticks around to start next weekend on Saturday, we will keep partly cloudy skies in the forecast. High temperatures remaining in the mid-upper 70s.
