Minor flooding from slow-moving thunderstorms is leading to problems in some parts of Metro Detroit. Storms brought heavy rain, gusty winds, and reports of hails as large as quarters.
Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
After the showers and thunderstorms move out of Southeast Michigan, we will be left with partly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the lower 60s.
Monday
The active weather pattern will continue. Monday will be hot and humid. An unstable atmosphere will lead to the chance of a few showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
A couple of these storms could become strong to severe with the potential of heavy rain, gusty winds, and hail.
Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy as temperatures soar to near-record territory. Highs will be in the upper 80s to 90 degrees. Metro Detroit’s record high for May 20 is 91 degrees. At night, a few showers will be possible as lows fall to the mid 60s.
Tuesday
It will be hot again on Tuesday, and we will have a better chance of showers and thunderstorms. As temperatures rise into the mid to upper 80s, showers and thunderstorms will begin to develop in the afternoon and evening.
The strongest of these storms could pack damaging winds and hail. Localized street flood flooding may also be possible.
Nighttime temperatures will offer little relief from the heat and humidity as lows only fall to around 70 degrees.
Wednesday
Wednesday, we will have a mix of sun and clouds with the chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the lower to mid 80s. Lows will fall to the mid to upper 50s.
Late Week
During the second half of the week, it will be cooler and less humid. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s, and lows will be in the 50s to around 60 degrees. We are likely to get a break from the rain on Thursday and Friday, but shower chances will return for the weekend.
