4Warn Weather – We’ve got another muggy morning on this Tuesday. We’ll hold on to the “air you can wear “with higher humidity levels on tap again today and tomorrow.
We will be flirting with record highs as we rise into the upper 80s today. The current record high for this date is 92 degrees, which was set back in 1977.
Today will be mostly sunny and muggy with a forecasted high of 87 degrees.
There is a chance of pop-up thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, but they will be very isolated in nature. Any storms that move in should do so after 6 p.m.
Any isolated storm may produce wind gusts to 60 mph and large hail.
Tonight’s sunset is at 8:54 p.m.
Storms remain a possibility overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. There is a larger threat for severe weather during that time.
Thunderstorms early Wednesday
The potential exists for a strong to severe line of thunderstorms to push through the area around and after 4 a.m. on Wednesday. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph will be possible ,should this line of storms maintain higher intensity through the overnight.
It is worth mentioning that a level 3 threat (out of 5) exists on the west side of the Michigan and wanes the farther east you go in Lower Michigan -- meaning a marginal risk for severe weather (level 1 of 5) exists for Southeast Michigan at that time.
A cold front tracking through the region will maintain a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday, but mainly southeast of our area. There may be another chance for pop-up showers in the evening, around 6 p.m. or 7 p.m.
Less humid by Thursday
A drier, less humid air mass will build in for the end of the week.
Thursday and Friday will be slightly cooler and less humid with highs still around 80 degrees. Skies will have a mix of sun and clouds.
Memorial Day weekend forecast
Temperatures look to trend in the mid to upper 70s through the long Memorial Day weekend, with off-and-on rain chances mixed with sunshine.
Saturday may start with rain, but that should push out quickly. Saturday is shaping up to look rather dry. There’s another chance for storms late on Sunday.
Heading up north for the holiday weekend? Mostly to partly sunny conditions are forecasted in northern Lower Michigan, with chances for showers and highs in the low to mid-70s.

Nationally, there is an increasing threat of severe weather pushing through the northern Plains and upper Midwest Tuesday into Wednesday morning. A severe weather threat will emerge across the southern Plains to the mid-Mississippi Valley on Wednesday. Meanwhile, cool conditions persist with periods of shower and high elevation snow chances from the Rockies to the Pacific Northwest. Well above-average temperatures are stretching across the central Plains and will be replaced by cooler conditions, while summer-like weather is expected to continue across the southern Plains to the Northeast.
