Wet weather moves into Metro Detroit beginning Friday night.
It will become mostly cloudy as rain showers and thunderstorms move in from the west after 11 p.m. A few thunderstorms could have heavy rain and gusty winds up to 40 mph as they move to the east-northeast around 40 mph. Otherwise, Southeasterly winds will be light, around 5 to 10 mph. The chance of showers will last into Saturday morning as early morning lows fall to the mid-50s.
Numerous events will take place over Memorial Day Weekend as the country honors the fallen and people spend time with family. There will be chances of rain through the start of next week, but late Saturday and early Sunday are likely to be free of rain. Monday, the showers will be hit-or-miss throughout the day.
Saturday
Saturday morning, a few showers and thunderstorms will be possible as a cold front sweeps across Southeast Michigan. The day will start off mostly cloudy, but clouds will decrease during the afternoon and give way to sunshine. Highs will be in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Winds will be out of the south-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
A high-pressure system will push over the Great Lakes region on Saturday night, which will give us mostly clear and quiet conditions. Lows will be in the mid to 50s.
Sunday
Sunday will start with partly cloudy conditions, but skies will become mostly cloudy. A few rain showers will develop in the afternoon and evening as highs reach the mid 70s. A couple of storms could become strong to severe ahead of another cold front. Lows will be around 60 degrees.
Memorial Day
Plan for the chance of isolated showers in Monday morning. A few spotty showers will be possible through the day. Highs will be in the lower 70s, which is seasonable. Lows will be in the lower to mid 50s.
The chance of showers will continue through Wednesday as cooler air moves over Southeast Michigan.
Metro Detroit’s normal highs through Memorial Day are 73 to 74 degrees, and the normal lows are 53 to 54 degrees.
