Metro Detroit warming up soon: What to expect

Drier weather to end the week

4Warn Weather – Our Wednesday begins damp and dreary (again). Grab an umbrella as scattered showers drape the area early this morning.

There is a chance for a non-severe storm to develop midday south of I-94.

Otherwise, a drier air mass will build in this afternoon, helping some of the clouds to thin.

Temps will be slightly cooler today as we struggle to hit 70 degrees.

Tonight’s sunset is at 9:01 p.m.

Skies will be mostly clear tonight with chiller lows in the 40s.

Gradual warming trend begins

A gradual warming trend begins Thursday with sunshine making a comeback.

Expect highs in the low 70s on Thursday, and in the seasonal mid-70s on Friday. We’ll stay dry on Thursday and Friday.

Highs will warm to either side of 80 degrees this weekend. We’ll climb even higher, back into the 80s early next week.

The weekend should be mostly dry. The only chance for rain appears to be Saturday night, but it shouldn’t impact the Detroit Grand Prix happening downtown.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, an active pattern continues with heavy rain, flash flooding, and severe weather possible across the Central U.S. Above average heat continues across far southern Texas and Florida, and will begin to build in the Southwest.
