4Warn Weather – A hot and humid forecast is on tap for this Tuesday. We’ll stay relatively dry, but this will be air you can wear.
Temperatures will warm up today with highs in the upper 80s. Those temps will feel like the 90s due to the heat index.
Skies will be partly sunny. Any rain previously forecast for the area is no longer expected today.
Tonight’s sunset is at 9:06 p.m.
Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s.
From steamy to stormy
Showers and some thunderstorms are likely on Wednesday as a cold front sweeps across the area.
There is a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. A line of thunderstorms will move across the region between roughly noon and 8 p.m.
The main threat during these storms is damaging winds of 60 mph or greater. Large hail and heavy rain will also be possible.
We could see isolated flooding in areas that possibly pick up more than 1 inch of rain.
Drier Thursday before more rain chances
We’ll dry out on Thursday with pleasant temperatures. It’ll be a little breezy on Thursday, but still great conditions for the OPEN Live concert outside Michigan Central Station celebrating its reopening.
Periodic rain chances will build back in on Friday. Highs will slide below average and struggle to reach 70 degrees on Friday.
Otherwise, expect a mix of sun and clouds this weekend with seasonal mid-70s.
Elsewhere ...
Nationally, excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding over parts of the South. Severe storms will also be possible across parts of the Mississippi Valley on Tuesday. The potential for excessive heat continues over portions of California as well as the desert Southwest and southern Texas.
