4Warn Weather – Our Wednesday begins muggy. We’re tracking a cold front to our west that will usher in strong to severe storms this afternoon.
All of Southeast Michigan is under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather today due to potentially severe weather this afternoon. Highs today will reach the low 80s before cooler air works in behind the front.
What you need to know for this afternoon:
The timeline for severe storms will be between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. today.
By 1 p.m., some spotty showers may move through the area, and will be more common out west near Jackson. By 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., storms will be firing off throughout Metro Detroit.
Showers and storms will continue throughout the evening, though the line of storms will push eastward. By about 8 p.m. or 9 p.m., the showers and storms will have moved east into Ontario, lifting our severe weather threat.
The main threat amid severe storms today will be damaging winds of 60 mph or greater. Isolated large hail and heavy downpours will also be possible.
Storm motion will be from southwest to northeast at 30-35 mph. We aren’t expecting any tornadic activity.

Mostly dry Thursday before more rain
We could see some lingering showers on Thursday morning, with some possible later in the day. we could see some spotty showers between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. We should be dry by 8 p.m., in time for the OPEN Live concert outside of Michigan Central Station in Corktown.
It will be a little breezy on Thursday.
Then, periodic rain chances will build back in on Friday. Highs will slide below average and struggle to reach 70 degrees Friday.
Expect, a mix of sun and clouds this weekend with highs in the low 70s. Rain showers are possible in the afternoons of both weekend days.
