Heat advisory in place across Metro Detroit: What to know

4Warn Weather – Heat and humidity will affect the area again today, but we are seeing a sliver of improvement. The excessive heat warnings have been downgraded to heat advisories.

An influx of high clouds and an approaching front has caused a slight downward adjustment in temperatures today through Friday. Heat indices will still be in the 90s.

Conditions will be worse in the city, where nighttime lows will be the warmest closer to Detroit. However, the other notable improvement is that these alerts will be lifting at 10 p.m. on Thursday or earlier.

More clouds than sun with highs in the low to mid 90s on this Wednesday. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to fire off between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. Southeast Michigan is under a marginal risk of severe storms. Any storm that develops will be capable of producing frequent lightning and heavy rainfall. There is a risk for isolated severe storms capable of producing wind gusts to 60 MPH.

Tonight’s sunset is at 9:13 p.m.

There will be periodic chances for thunderstorms each afternoon through Sunday, so keep an umbrella nearby as the heat and humidity could bubble up a few pop-ups each day. Staying in the 90s through Saturday. Falling into the mid to upper 80s Sunday into early next week.
