4Warn Weather – We’re staying steamy and stormy for the summer solstice! We officially welcome summer at 4:50 p.m. on this Thursday.
Heat and humidity will affect the area again. A heat advisory remains in effect for areas along and south of I-69 until 10 p.m. Heat indices will still be in the 90s across Southeast Michigan today.
We are also under an air quality alert today due to elevated ozone levels, so between the heat and air quality, try to limit your time outside.
Cooler conditions are expected across the Thumb and near Lake Huron today. It’ll be warmer south of I-69 with highs forecast in the upper 80s and low 90s. The feels like temperatures south of I-69 will reach the low to mid-90s.
Scattered thunderstorms are possible at any time Thursday through Saturday due to the heat and humidity. The strongest storms are possible in the afternoons and evenings.
Storms could bring strong wind gusts up to 60 mph and heavy rainfall with localized flooding.
The air quality alert in place Thursday affects Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties. It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor activities and refueling vehicles, or topping off when refueling and/or using gasoline powered lawn equipment.

Storm chances last into weekend
There will be periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms each afternoon through Sunday, so keep an umbrella nearby. The heat and humidity could bubble up a few pop-up storms each day.
Highs will stay in the 90s through Saturday. Temps will fall into the mid to upper 80s on Sunday and into early next week.
