Heat, storms return ahead of holiday in Metro Detroit: What to expect

Highs near 90 by Wednesday

4Warn Weather – Soak up the sun! We’ve got sunshine and 70s on tap to start the work week.

Our Monday morning does begin cooler with temperatures on either side of 50 degrees.

High pressure will set up a sunny and pleasant afternoon. Plan for a high UV Index, which means there’s a high risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure. So, make sure to reapply your sunscreen often today.

Tonight’s sunset is at 9:13 p.m.

Lows will be in the upper 50s. Skies will be partly cloudy.

Heating back up

We’ll have seasonal conditions Tuesday as clouds thicken through the day. Highs will be around 80 degrees.

The summer heat will return by Wednesday as we head into the holiday. Highs will be close to 90 degrees Wednesday.

A hot and humid airmass with storm chances arrives midweek, as well. There is a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe storms on Wednesday.

We can’t rule out pop-up storms on Thursday, but don’t expect the Fourth of July to be a washout by any means. We will be in the low to mid-80s on Independence Day through the upcoming weekend.
