Rain showers possible in Metro Detroit on Fourth of July; Thunderstorms move in on Friday

Storms arrive for end of week

Showers and thunderstorms roll into the region for the end of the week on Friday (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – We will watch a weak disturbance roll through Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening.

This will bring a chance of rain showers in our southern communities for part of the day, but the day will not be a complete washout. High temperature is heading for the upper 80s by Thursday afternoon.

A better chance of more widespread showers and thunderstorms for the end of week on Friday. Another frontal boundary will move through by the afternoon and evening hours. High temperature is heading for the middle 80s by Friday afternoon.

This weekend

Once that boundary moves out of the region, that sets us up for a very nice weekend. Warm temperatures and lower humidity values. Partly cloudy sky sticking around both days this weekend, high temperatures heading for the lower 80s on Saturday, and into the middle 80s by Sunday.

Next week

Our chances of showers and thunderstorms increase looking ahead into early next week here at home. High temperatures in the middle 80s Monday and Tuesday can be expected with a little bit of sunshine between some of those thunderstorms on Monday. There are better chances of more widespread thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Hurricane Beryl

Keeping our eyes on Hurricane Beryl this morning. Beryl remains a major hurricane, maximum sustained winds of 120 miles an hour making it a category three hurricane. The current track pulls it into the Yucatán Peninsula by the end of the week, just south of Cancun and Cozumel.

Once the storm emerges into Mexico, we are expecting the storm to rest, strengthen into a tropical storm, then a category one hurricane before making landfall early next week near the US Mexico border.
