Strong storms possible this July 4 weekend in Metro Detroit

Friday highs in upper 80s; Saturday highs in lower 80s

4Warn Weather – Rain showers will come to an end on this Independence Day and allow for pleasant fireworks shows in Metro Detroit.

Celebrating this evening? It will stay mostly cloudy and warm. A stray shower is possible, but much of the activity has come to an end. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Overnight, it will remain mostly cloudy, humid, and mild. Lows will range from the mid 60s west of US-23 and north of M-59. Detroit and neighboring communities will be in the upper 60s. Winds will be out of the southwest around 5 mph.

Friday

The weather will be similar on Friday, but there will be a better chance of showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could become strong to severe with gusty winds with the approach of a front. Apart from the rain chance during the afternoon and evening, it will be mostly cloudy with highs in mid 80s. Winds will be out of the southeast at 5 to 15 mph and gusts to 20 mph.

Friday night, following evening showers and storms, it will be partly cloudy. Lows will be in the lower to mid 60s.

Saturday

Behind the front, it will be less humid and a few degrees cooler on Saturday. A couple of spotty showers are possible, but most areas will stay dry. Highs will be in the upper 70s to 80 degrees. Under partly cloudy skies, nighttime temperatures will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Sunday

Sunday will bring pleasant weather with a lot of sunshine. Highs will be in the lower 80s. Lows will fall to the lower to mid 60s.

Beryl

Nationally, Hurricane Beryl’s impacts on Texas will increase on Sunday, including a possible landfall along the South Texas coastline.

Monday

Back in Southeast Michigan, hot weather will be back in the forecast for Monday. Highs will be in the mid 80s to near 90 degrees. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s.

While a few showers will move into the area late Monday night, the better chance of rain will be Tuesday. The chance will last from morning until night. Highs will be 80 to 85 degrees, and lows will be 60 to 65 degrees.
