Metro Detroit to feel tropical with heat, humidity from Beryl

Remnants of Beryl to bear down on Southeast Michigan midweek

4Warn Weather – A comfortable Sunday night will be a stark contrast to the heat and humidity, which will arrive Monday in Metro Detroit. Monday’s nearly-tropical humidity will continue through midweek as the remnants of Beryl bear down on Southeast Michigan.

Tracking Beryl

Beryl is projected to make landfall in Texas as a hurricane early Monday morning, but the impacts were already being felt on Sunday. Coastal communities face the greatest threat, but the potential for damaging winds, tornadoes, and flooding extend inland. Heavily populated areas, including Houston, are at risk.

The weather is a lot calmer in Metro Detroit, which will enjoy a comfortable Sunday night. Under partly cloudy skies, temperatures will settle in the mid 60s overnight. Winds will be 2 to 5 mph out of the south.

Monday

Monday will be partly cloudy, hot, and humid in Metro Detroit. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s, but it will feel like it is around 90 degrees. A few daytime showers will be possible, but mainly limited to areas north of I-69. During the evening, the slight chance for a couple of showers or thunderstorms will expand southward to include Canton, Holly, Pontiac, Sterling Heights, and other areas north of I-94. Southwesterly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday

Wednesday, Metro Detroit will begin to tap into the moisture of Beryl’s remnants. The system will be post-tropical, but it will bring the chance of showers and thunderstorms and breezy conditions. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperatures will be cooler with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Rain showers will last into the night with lows in the lower to mid 60s.
