4Warn Weather – The mugginess continues to be an inconvenience for Metro Detroiters, but possible strong storms could also create headaches.
Monday
Wet roads and ponding could impact the Monday morning commute, but showers and thunderstorms are expected to diminish before noon.
The afternoon will see clearing, with skies becoming partly cloudy to mostly sunny. Temperatures will soar to near 90 degrees, with heat indices from the lower to upper 90s.
These conditions will once again contribute to the ingredients necessary for strong storms to develop late. Non-thunderstorm winds will be out of the west-southwest, at 6-12 mph.
Monday night into Tuesday morning, strong to severe storms are possible over Southeast Michigan. There is still uncertainty regarding their exact timing, but they are also likely to develop after midnight.
The chance of severe weather will be slighter higher west of I-275. Warm lows will be in the lower 70.
Tuesday
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing near a cold front that will push over the Great Lakes region on Tuesday. A couple of storms could become capable of gusty winds in areas mainly near Monroe and southward. Temperatures will manage to reach the lower 80s, but it will feel hotter. Lows will return to the mid 60s.
Wednesday
Behind the cold front, the cooler and drier air will be noticeable on Wednesday. Highs will be in the mid 70s to the lower 80s into next weekend. Following a wet start to the week, a high-pressure system will ensure lots of sunshine.
Flood Warning
The rainfall could exacerbate flooding of the Huron River in Livingston County. A flood warning remains in effect for the river, which was experiencing moderate flooding on Sunday.
