Showers, thunderstorms are possible early next week as temperatures rise in Metro Detroit

4Warn Weather – Going to the beach, festival, or park? Expect enjoyable weather for much of the weekend.

A fantastic Friday will end with mostly clear skies. Overnight lows will be around 60 degrees in Detroit, Dearborn, Livonia, Warren, and Monroe. Lows will fall to the mid-50s in Ann Arbor, Howell, Lapeer, Sandusky, and Port Huron.

Saturday

A stunning Saturday will keep sunshine over Southeast Michigan as a high-pressure system drifts over the Great Lakes. Whether you plan to go to the Michigan Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti’s Riverside Park, Sterlingfest in Sterling Heights, or Pride Royal Oak, the weather will be comfortable. Temperatures will be warmer and seasonable, with highs in the lower 80s. Expect southeasterly winds around 5 mph.

It will be mostly clear on Saturday night, with lows falling to the lower 60s.

Sunday

The high-pressure system leading to clear skies will move away from our area on Sunday. The day will begin with mostly sunny skies, but clouds will increase during the day. Highs will reach the upper 80s, and the humidity will creep up enough to be noticeable.

Skies will become mostly cloudy on Sunday night. A shower will be possible during the overnight hours. Lows will only fall to the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

Monday

Monday morning will bring a better chance for a few showers. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day as temperatures push into the mid-upper 80s. The humidity will jump and make it feel muggy. Lows will be in the upper 60s.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Showers and thunderstorms will return by Tuesday afternoon as a cold front approaches. A few showers will remain in the area for early Wednesday. Highs will be in the mid- to upper 80s on both days, with lows in the upper 60s to 70 degrees.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday and Friday, the start of August, will be hot with a mix of sunshine and clouds. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

August Outlook

According to the Climate Prediction Center, it is leaning toward August having above-normal temperatures.
